About me

Sensei John Adams is a Third Degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate with years of experience in multiple types of one-on-one training and fitness.

Training Our Work Together

1) Introduction: First, we'll get to know each other a bit. I am most interested in what your goals are and what you would like to accomplish.

2) Basic health history: I'll need to ask a few basic questions about your health history. Our first concern is your health so these questions will help insure that in our work together you are not harmed in any way or aggravate any previous injuries.

3) Basic Forms - We'll prepare a few simple forms including a sign-up form/waiver of liability and a health screening form.

Typical Training Session

A typical session will consist of meditation to clear our minds and prepare us for the training to come. We will then commence with a series of warm-up exercises to warm the muscles and open-up the body. Then we will work on basic karate techniques, which will begin to help you develop a strong foundation for more advanced techniques and training down the road. The majority of our session will consist of the practice of Kata (an organized series of blocks, punches, kicks, and strikes in a geometrical pattern against an imaginary opponent). The practice of kata will help you develop superior strength, reflexes, balance, and coordination. You will become stronger than you ever have before. We will finish with a cool-down, stretching and meditation.
